Biography

Geraldine (Jerry) E. Baker 82 of Niverville died Thursday at Barnwell Health Facilities Valatie, N.Y. Mrs. Baker born May 5,1927 in Chatham is the daughter of the late Ralph and Matilda (Nichols) Dedrick.She graduated Chatham High School and Austin’s Beauty School and a Nursing degree from NewYork State. She owned and operated Jerry’s Beauty Shop in Chatham for 2years and then she started her career in Nursing, Employed as an LPN with Columbia Memorial Hospital for many years, Dr. Lashway in Valatie for several years and for 26 years she was employed with Barnwell Health Facilities in Valatie retiring in 1992 Mrs.Baker was a member of the Niverville Methodist Church serving on many of its organizations as well as the Troy Conference. Mrs. Baker was an advocate for Womens Rights. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher and enjoyed crafts. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Arthur F.Baker of Niverville, Daughters Donna Snowden of Lake City, Fl. Susan Lynn McCormick and husband Patrick of Schenectady, N.Y. Son Andrew F. Baker and wife Judy of Valatie, N.Y. Survived also by 3 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. She was Predeceased by Sisters Helena Pacinella and Janice Ordway. Funeral Services will be held Monday 10:00am from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham, Interment will be in the Chatham Center Cemetery, Calling hours will be Sunday 7-9pm For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia Greene 47 Liberty St. Catskill, N.Y. 12414
