Biography

Olive Georgiana Wanner passed away peacefully October 2,2011 at Barnwell Nursing Home. She was born November 6,1918 to the late George and Olive (Tremper) Wanner in New York City. On April 9,1939 she married William F.Wanner and together they raised their family. They lived in Teaneck, N.J. until 1961 when they moved to Chatham,N.Y. They had celebrated over 68 years of marriage together until his death in 2007. Olive was a member of St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chatham since 1961 and served on the altar guild. She was a member of the Chatham Women’s Business Club for many years and was an active aerobic participant with the Firmettes for more than 20 years retiring at the age of 87. She was a devoted friend, sage counsel and confidant to many. She is the beloved mother of Lt. Col. Ronald (Barbara) Wanner of N.H., Kenneth (Mary) Wanner of Fl. and Joan (Patrick) Wemitt of Chatham. Mrs. Wanner is also treasured grandmother of Kimberly (Rick) Bonefant,N.H. Kelly (Robert) Bolton, N.H., Lt Col. Robert (Traci) Wanner of Alaska,Scott (Susan) Wanner, Mass., Eric (Katrina) Wemitt, Ct., and Jason (Hannah) Wemitt of Ky. She is Survived also by 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Nieces Sister Barbara Moran of St Joseph’s of Peace N.J. and Alicia Franco. Besides her parents and husband, Olive is predeceased by a sister Bessie Moran. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care during her last few months and also the staff at Barnwell Nursing Home especially the first floor. Calling hours will be Saturday Oct. 8 from 10 – 12 at the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham. A funeral service will follow at St Luke’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at the Chatham Rural Cemetery.
