Biography

Robert C. Francis 69 of Elm St. Chatham died Monday at Albany Medical Center. Mr. Francis born April 22,1942 in Queens, N .Y. is the son of the late Conrad and Elizabeth (Schultze) Francis. He was a graduate of Chatham High School and Dutchess Community College with a A.S. degree. Mr. Francis worked on the family chicken farm for several years before entering the U.S. Marine Corp in 1966 for a total of 9 years, attaining rank of Capt. where He flew helicopters during Vietnam and later served in the Reserves. Mr. Francis was employed with the Village of Chatham highway Dept and the Police Dept. for several years before He was employed with Blue Seal Feed in Chatham for 14 years .Mr. Francis then started his own general contracting business and continued up until 3 years ago. Mr. Francis was a member of the Iwo Jima Association, Pop A Smoke U.S.M.C., Helicopter Association, Ghent V.F. W. Post #5933 and a member of the First Reformed Church Chatham. A loving husband and father, he will be remembered for his jokes,story telling and his witty sense of humor in which he made light of any situation. He is survived by his wife Wanda (Reed) Francis of Chatham, Daughter Jamie L. Francis of Plattsburgh, N.Y. Sister Kathleen Kandrach of Cheshire, Ma. Survived also by 2 Nephews and a Niece and several Grand Nieces and Nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Annette Feeney. Funeral Service will be held Friday 11:00am from the First Reformed Church Chatham. Calling hours are Thursday evening 5- 8 pm from the Wenk Funeral Home Chatham.
