Biography

Helen W. Rivenburg 84 a life long resident of Spencertown, died Sunday at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Rivenburg born March 4,1927 in Spencertown, N.Y. is the daughter of the late Thomas B. and Elizabeth (Camp) Whiffen. She graduated from Chatham High School 1945 and was a beautician for several years before becoming a secretary for Chatham Frozen Food in Chatham for several years and also for Madsen Overhead Door. Co. in Spencertown. Mrs. Rivenburg was employed as a child care giver in Great Barrington,Ma. for several years. She is a member of St Peterís Presbyterian Church Spencertown as well as its Womenís Guild and a member of the Tower Club. She was an avid cook, baker, seamstress and making craft items. Mrs. Rivenburg is survived by her husband Norman Rivenburg of Spencertown, Daughter Christine Rundell of Spencertown, Guy A.Madsen of Spencertown, Daniel W. Madsen of Clinton Corners, N.Y. David T. Madsen of Ghent, Lee E. Madsen of Spencertown. Sisters Elizabeth Pietrak and Grace Ann Silvernale both of Spencertown.Survived also by 13 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. She was Predeceased by Brothers Thomas, Richard and Robert Whiffen and Sisters Doris McComb and Beatrice Demler. Funeral Service will be held Thursday 1:00pm from St Peterís Presbyterian Church Spencertown with the Reverend Andrew Paton officiating.
